No Wrong Door

Definition

Cross-government Public Service Division

A Public Service policy requiring the agency that receives feedback to help route and secure ownership of the case instead of simply turning the person away because another agency is responsible.

Example: The resident should not need the government org chart before someone takes responsibility.

Also known as: NWD, No Wrong Door policy

Context: Where a responsible agency can be identified, the receiving agency should ensure it takes up the case before making the connection. Issues with no clear owner may invoke the First Responder Protocol.
