About Lingo
Lingo is an independently maintained reference for abbreviations, acronyms and workplace terminology used across the Singapore Government and Public Service.
What the glossary tells you
An abbreviation entry identifies what a short form expands to. When explanatory context is available, its description also explains what the organisation, programme, role or concept does.
A general-term entry uses its description as the definition. Descriptions are strongly encouraged for abbreviations, but some entries may only have a confirmed expansion.
Repeated short forms are kept as separate meanings because the right interpretation often depends on domain, agency and context.
How to read the evidence labels
Evidence confidence is separate from lifecycle. An entry can be well sourced and still be historical, legacy or upcoming.
- Source checked
- A source was reviewed and supports the displayed meaning. This does not imply official endorsement of Lingo.
- Use may vary
- The meaning is plausible, but usage may be informal, agency-specific or dependent on context.
- Meaning not confirmed
- Research has not yet established the meaning with enough confidence. Treat it as a lead, not a settled definition.
- Not yet reviewed
- The entry has not completed an evidence review. It may still be useful, but should be checked before high-stakes use.
Corrections and privacy
Lingo does not decide policy. For consequential work, confirm terminology against the responsible agency or the linked source.
If an entry is incorrect, outdated or missing important context, use its Report action. New terms can be sent through the Suggest page for editorial review.
No account is required. Quiz progress and completed-round totals stay in your browser. Anonymous usage and search events may be recorded to improve search and understand which parts of the experience are useful.
