Cross-government
An overall judgement or impression about a situation, often based on experience, context and incomplete information rather than a fully worked-through assessment.
Example: My sense is that this will struggle to gain support.
Also known as: sensing, my sense, what's your sense, what's your sense?
Context: A sense is often more intuitive or provisional than a read, although the two can overlap. Sense-making is the process of interpreting information to develop a coherent understanding, rather than the resulting impression itself.
