Request for (noun phrase)
Use when
You need a noun naming the act or instance of asking for something.
Example
“We submitted a request for the Director's approval.”

Usage note
Request can also introduce a that-clause or an object followed by a to-infinitive, as in “We request that the paper be revised” and “We requested the vendor to resubmit the form”.
