Normal Registration / Automatic Registration
Different meaningsThe registration process depends principally on whether the society falls within the types listed in the Schedule of the Societies Act. Automatic Registration does not mean guaranteed approval: the Registrar may make inquiries, move an application to the normal registration process for further assessment, or reject an application where the statutory grounds apply.
Normal Registration
Use when
A society falls within a type listed in the Schedule of the Societies Act or is otherwise moved to the normal registration process for further assessment.
Example
“The society falls within a scheduled category and must use Normal Registration.”
Automatic Registration
Use when
A society is not within the types listed in the Schedule of the Societies Act and is eligible to apply through the automatic registration process, subject to the Registrar's statutory powers.
Example
“The society is eligible to apply through Automatic Registration.”
