Effectiveness asks whether the work achieved the intended result; efficiency asks how well it used time, money and other resources.

Effectiveness

Use when

You are judging whether an intervention achieved its objectives or intended results.

Example

Efficiency

Use when

You are judging how economically resources were converted into results.

Example

“Automation improved efficiency by reducing processing time per case.”
