Discuss normally takes a direct object and does not need about. Use discuss the issue or talk about the issue.

You mean talk about or consider a subject; discuss takes the subject directly as its object.

Use when

Avoid this form in standard formal English; use discuss something or talk about something.

Example

“Replace 'discuss about the proposal' with 'discuss the proposal'.”
